The Guthrie Cardiovascular 研究员hip Program was established in 2009. With two new fellows each year, the three-year program trains six fellows at a time in all aspects of Cardiology, including heart failure, arrhythmia management, and noninvasive and invasive imaging, 举几个例子.
As Guthrie’s initial fellowship, we have recently graduated our 19th and 20th fellows and we are pleased to claim an above 90% first-time pass rate for the General Cardiology Board Exam. 另外, many fellows choose to take Echocardiography, 核心脏病学, and CT Boards during their training, all optional certifications. The first-time pass rate has been above 90% for these Boards as well. Our program is somewhat unique in that many training programs do not allow their fellows to sit for these subspecialty Boards, while the opinion of our Cardiology faculty is that preparing for these exams enhances the knowledge of our trainees, and better prepares them for practice.
Cardiovascular trainees at Guthrie have found a strong, engaged faculty that takes pride in what we do and, 在我们的欲望中, 教. Our annual Fellow survey endorses this commitment. The program is a comprehensive one, 团队合作, 专业, and mutual respect are keys to success. We take pride in the fact that all of our trainees have attained/exceeded their goals, with half pursuing further fellowship training in Interventional Cardiology, 先进的成像, 电生理学, 和心力衰竭, and the other half entering practice directly.
就我个人而言, my Internal Medicine Residency at Guthrie in the late 1980s was invaluable in terms of my future accomplishments. Since I joined Guthrie as an Interventional Cardiologist in 1991, I have strived to mentor others in the positive way that I was mentored as a trainee. I am proud to have directed the Cardiovascular 研究员hip since 2012, and to have recruited four excellent fellows to our faculty during this time.
Given the wonderful team of physicians, advanced practice providers, 护士, 秘书, 技术人员, 和管理员, the future of Cardiology and of our training program is bright, as we continue to provide cutting edge treatments to those in our region and beyond.
